The University of Jordan (UJ) has achieved a significant milestone in the global Webometrics ranking for February 2025, ranking 8th in the Arab world, 1st locally, and among the top 2% of universities worldwide. The results reveal a remarkable advancement for UJ, with an improvement of 49 positions globally. This achievement marks the university's best performance in its history within this ranking. Published in February and August, the Webometrics ranking is one of the largest university rankings worldwide, covering over 31,000 educational institutions from more than 200 countries. The ranking is based on three main indicators; measuring the quality and influence of published research through citation counts, evaluating the performance of researchers through citation data from Google Scholar, and reflecting the university's digital presence and the accessibility of its academic and service-related information to the public. It is worth noting that the Webometrics ranking has been published since 2004 by the Cybermetrics Lab, part of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) based in Madrid. The ranking is considered a key metric for evaluating the performance of universities regionally and globally.
