Chaired by the Vice President for Global Rankings and International Accreditation, the Office of Global Rankings and International Accreditation held a meeting at the School of Arts and Design to discuss the QS Subject 2024 report. The meeting was attended by the Dean of the School of Arts and Design, department heads, and faculty and administrative staff members. The Vice President emphasized the significance of global rankings and international accreditation in enhancing the reputation of the University of Jordan and their impact on the quality of education, as well as the reputation of students, faculty members, and graduates both locally and internationally. He highlighted the major global rankings, including QS, Shanghai, and Times Higher Education (THE), and discussed the research performance of the School of Arts and Design in comparison to previous years. The Vice President underscored the importance of improving the quality of scientific research, the journals in which faculty publish, research groups, and citation rates, as these factors influence the visibility and dissemination of research locally and globally. The discussion covered the local, regional, and global standing of the School of Arts and Design, as well as the status of the programs within the school and the plans needed to advance in rankings. The meeting also addressed the QS Subject 2024 criteria, which include academic reputation, employment reputation, citations, and impact factor. The report included the ranking of the programs within the School of Arts and Design over the past years in the QS Subject rankings, the current standings of these programs compared to last year, and detailed results for the programs in the QS Subject 2024 ranking in comparison to previous years. Strategies to enhance performance on these criteria for the next ranking cycle were also discussed. Further meetings will be scheduled to discuss the QS Subject 2024 report in each school to outline the next steps and distribute tasks among committee members in each school.
