Chaired by the Vice President for Global Rankings and International Accreditation, the Office of Global Rankings and International Accreditation held a meeting at the School of Engineering to discuss the QS Subject Report 2024, attended by the Dean of the School of Engineering and representatives from the academic departments within the school. The Vice President highlighted the main global rankings: QS, Shanghai, and Times (THE), and discussed the School of Engineering's research performance in comparison to previous years. He emphasized the importance of improving the quality of research output, the journals in which it is published, research groups, and citations, as these factors significantly influence the visibility and dissemination of research both locally and globally. The meeting addressed the School of Engineering's local standing, where it ranks first in the field of Engineering and Technology, along with the status of certain classified and unclassified disciplines within the school and the necessary plans for them to be included in rankings. Additionally, the QS Subject 2024 criteria were discussed, including academic reputation, employment reputation, citations, impact factor, and international research collaboration. The report reviewed the ranking of the School of Engineering's disciplines over the past years in the QS Subject classification, the current detailed ranking of the School's disciplines compared to the previous year, and the results of the School of Engineering's disciplines in the QS Subject 2024 report, with detailed comparisons to previous years' results. Further meetings will be held in each school to discuss the QS Subject 2024 report, outlining the next steps and distributing tasks among committee members in each school.
