Ryoichi Sasakawa Young Leaders Fellowships (SYLFF)
The Ryoichi Sasakawa Young Leaders Fellowship Fund Program (SYLFF) was established in 1987 by The Nippon Foundation and The Tokyo Foundation, the program administrator, with the mission to educate and support future leaders, who could ultimately contribute to a positive development of the world community. SYLFF has since then donated US 1 million to 69 selected universities, to provide fellowships to students enrolled in master’s and doctoral degree programs around the world in social sciences and humanities.
The University of Jordan has joined the family of SYLFF institutions in 2003. Since then, SYLFF fellowships have been awarded to 19 students majoring in Arabic Language, Islamic studies, Law, Women’s Studies and English Literature, and whose studies relate to the theme, “Social and Cultural Change: Tradition, Modernity and Religion.”
The SYLFF fellowship covers:
- Tuition fees
- Monthly stipends
- Annual book allowance
